I am sharing something each day covering the alphabet until I reach Z! Here we are at day 11! I am sharing topics having to do with sex, BDSM and/or kink. These topics are of things I am curious to learn about, love to know more about or just love to share.
If you have anything to add or have something else in that alphabet letter to share, please do so in the comments below.
Today’s sexy letter of the alphabet is:
K: Kama Sutra –
Kinkly – Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian text that explores human sexuality and the sociology of sex. It was originally written in Sanskrit, and it is believed that it was created by an Indian philosopher named Vatsyayana. Today, Kama Sutra is most known for the 64 different sexual positions that were outlined in the original text.
[It] teaches that sex is one of life’s greatest joys and should be a part of daily life. The 64 sexual positions outlined in the book may not all be for everyone, but the book certainly can provide some variety for those looking to mix things up. One example is the crab position, where a woman lies on her back with her knees pulled up to her stomach and the man enters her from a kneeling position. This is one of the easier Kama Sutra positions to get into.
There is a variety of books about Kama Sutra as well as downloadable apps.
Wikipedia – Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian Sanskrit text on sexuality, eroticism and emotional fulfillment in life. Attributed to Vātsyāyana, the Kama Sutra is neither exclusively nor predominantly a sex manual on sex positions, but written as a guide to the “art-of-living” well, the nature of love, finding a life partner, maintaining one’s love life, and other aspects pertaining to pleasure-oriented faculties of human life.
I was not educated very well with regard to sex while growing up. We learned the basics of girl and boy having sex could lead to baby and/or deceases or problems. So we are told that it is best to wait until married to have sex. But, if we did have sex prior to marriage the things to look out for and how to protect ourselves.
So, when I was older and heard about Kama Sutra, the first thing I did was giggle (with my friends as we talked about it) and think it was just too much to take in about the sexual positions. Not realizing that it was so much more.
Not only is it about the sex positions everyone goes crazy over. But it is about “how to have a rewarding life and fruitful relationships.”
Refinery29 has an entertaining and great write up on Kama Sutra and information on the sex positions and what it is really all about.
I have learned so much on my own with research, listening to podcasts and just talking about things with other like-minded people. I feel I understand myself and the world we live in a little more each and every day.
What was the first thing you thought of when you saw Kama Sutra was my word for today? When did you learn about it and what response did you have when knowing what it is?
Thank you for stopping by on my continued Sexy Alphabet 26 day ride!! See you tomorrow when I share the Letter L!
